1. Set list
2. Video footage
This is a big one! The first impression you get from a band means an awful lot. We encourage everyone to go with their gut when it comes to this. If you instantly get good vibes from a bands video, then you’re on to a winner. If you’re a little unsure, then we suggest doing a little more digging.
Look at and request as much footage as you can get your hands on. In particular, if you manage to see any video footage with wedding/party guests in it, have a close look at them. Do they look like they’re enjoying the band? What kind of atmosphere has the band created for them? Is everyone up dancing, or is the band more of a sophisticated background act? Watching the guests reaction to a band can tell you so much.
3. Check the band's reviews / feedback to help you with your decision.
Reviews mean everything when it comes to booking a wedding band. And we should know - (we have over 110 x 5* star Google reviews!). The great thing about reading feedback like this about bands, is that it’s non biased. You’re hearing the real story, straight from a previous couple and their own personal experience about a band or act.
4. Make sure you are confident in the band being able to cater for all your wedding guests
Maybe you and your partner are massive jazz fans, and you want to steer towards a band that suits that style of music - and rightfully so, it is your day after all. It’s important to remember though, that not everyone will have the same taste in music! It’s important that everyone can enjoy the music, so it’s well worth booking a band that can be versatile, read a crowd, and make sure everyone is having great time on the dance floor.
5. Talk to your booker about any special requests you have - no matter how big or small!
